Netflix’s original series, “Squid Game”, has been the talk of the town, or world rather, this past month. It’s captivating audiences worldwide, even having the most popular debut in Netflix history. Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are no exception to this phenomenon. The two superstars discussed the show and its ending in between media interviews as James exited the podium.
***Spoiler alert for anyone who is yet to watch or complete “Squid Game”***
While LeBron James was leaving his interview, Anthony Davis was next up, and they crossed paths. As the two greeted each other, AD asked LeBron if he finished watching “Squid Game”, which James responded by saying:
“Yeah, I did finish it. You finish it? You done? Yeah, I didn’t like the ending though. I know they start it off with a season two but like, get on the f—ing flight and go see your daughter, bro. Like what are you doing?”
LeBron had a lot to say about the South Korean drama show. It sounded as though LeBron thoroughly enjoyed the show. Especially considering the amount of emotion he showed in the brief exchange with Davis. However, The King didn’t take too kindly to the protagonist Seong Gi-hun’s decision to remain in Seoul instead of getting on his flight to reconnect with his daughter.
As he sat down at the podium, Anthony Davis agreed with LeBron’s take on the ending. However, the reporters who caught the exchange on video also interjected that they discussed the show before James and Davis showed up. This goes to show how many people “Squid Game” has touched. LeBron parted the stage with even more displeased comments on Gi-hun’s discussion.
“You have five billion won bro, you don’t leave? Your daught- bro what the f—.”
After James has exited the stage, Anthony Davis closes the conversation with comments about how he would have acted if he were in the protagonist’s position. He wouldn’t have acknowledged the game anymore, and he would’ve done more than see his daughter.
“It’s not my problem anymore. I won the game… And I’m going to get my wife back. [Her new husband] ain’t got money like me now. Money talks.”
The season finale has been a polarizing topic of discussion. However, James, Davis, and other NBA stars like Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets agree that they would have done things differently. I’m sure they, like a lot of the world’s population, can’t wait for season two, though it hasn’t officially been confirmed yet.
